Mikhail Naimy (1889-1988) was a Lebanese author, poet, philosopher, and critic who wrote ninety-nine books across multiple genres including drama, poetry, essays, and biography.
Fluent in Arabic, English, and Russian, he was a key figure in the Arab literary renaissance and a founding member of the New York Pen League alongside Khalil Gibran, whose first biography he authored in 1934.
Born in Mount Sannine, Lebanon, Naimy studied in Ukraine and the United States before returning to Lebanon in 1932.
Known as the "Hermit of Shakhroub," he lived to nearly one hundred years old, leaving a distinguished literary legacy.
