Vali Nasr is a prominent Iranian-American scholar of international relations and Middle Eastern politics.
Born in Tehran in 1960, the son of celebrated Iranian academic Seyyed Hossein Nasr, he relocated to England at 16 and later emigrated to the United States following Iran's 1979 Revolution.
He earned his BA summa cum laude from Tufts University, his master's from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and his PhD in Political Science from MIT in 1991.
He later served as Dean of Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies, cementing his reputation as a leading authority on Middle Eastern affairs.
