Idea Vilariño
Idea Vilariño (1920-2009) was a prominent Uruguayan poet, essayist, and literary critic.
A member of the Generation of 45, she was known for her lyric poetry collections like "La Suplicante" and "Poemas de Amor." Vilariño worked as a literature teacher and later became head of Uruguayan literature at the University of the Republic.
She was also a respected translator and Shakespearean scholar.
As a lyricist, her notable works include "A una Paloma" and "La Cancion y el Poema," set to music by famous composers.
Vilariño's diverse talents extended to composition and teaching, making her a significant figure in Uruguayan literary and cultural circles.
