Kathy Tyers
Kathy Tyers is a science fiction author with a degree in microbiology from Montana State University.
She began writing in 1983, publishing her first novel Firebird in 1987 with Bantam Spectra.
In 1993, she was invited to write for Star Wars, resulting in The Truce at Bakura becoming a bestseller.
She later wrote for the Christian market, reviving her Firebird series with spiritual themes and contributing another Star Wars novel, Balance Point.
After being widowed in 2004, she returned to school, earned a Diploma of Christian Studies from Regent College, and co-authored Christopher Parkening's autobiography.
She remarried in 2014.
