Before pursuing writing, he worked for a life insurance company.
He has twice won the prestigious Japan Horror Novel Award and is a bestselling author in Japan.
His works span multiple genres, earning him notable accolades including the Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Best Novel (2005), the Japan SF Taisho Award (2008), and the Yamada Futaro Award (2010).
Several of his novels have been adapted for the screen.
