Helen Phillips is an accomplished author of five books, including the recent novel THE NEED. Her collection SOME POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS won the 2017 John Gardner Fiction Book Award, while THE BEAUTIFUL BUREAUCRAT was a New York Times Notable Book and finalist for prestigious awards.
Her collection AND YET THEY WERE HAPPY earned Story Prize recognition, and she authored the children's novel HERE WHERE THE SUNBEAMS ARE GREEN. Phillips has received the Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award and Italo Calvino Prize.
Her work appears in The Atlantic, New York Times, and Tin House.
She serves as an associate professor at Brooklyn College.
