Pierre-Joseph Proudhon
Pierre-Joseph Proudhon (1809-1865) was a French socialist, politician, philosopher, and economist who founded mutualist philosophy.
He was the first person to declare himself an anarchist and is widely considered the "father of anarchism." Born into a family of tenant farmers, Proudhon experienced poverty firsthand, which influenced his radical economic theories.
After the 1848 Revolution, he became a member of French Parliament and identified as a federalist.
His philosophy sought to synthesize communism and property, advocating for possession over ownership and promoting a society based on mutual cooperation and equality without state control.
