Jasminne Mendez
Jasminne Méndez is an accomplished writer and educator based in Houston, Texas.
She is a Macondo and Canto Mundo Fellow and a VONA alumna, credentials that reflect her commitment to diverse literary communities.
Her previous work includes the multi-genre memoir Island of Dreams (2013), which won an International Latino Book Award.
Méndez draws from her own experiences with autoimmune diseases including lupus and scleroderma to inform her writing about chronic illness.
She is passionate about creating authentic Dominican American representation in middle grade literature and uses verse poetry as her primary storytelling medium.
