Mérő László is a Hungarian mathematician, publicist, and psychologist who serves as a university professor in the Economic Psychology department at ELTE. He won a bronze medal at the 1968 International Mathematical Olympiad in Moscow and completed his mathematics degree at ELTE in 1974.
Initially working in image processing and artificial intelligence at SZTAKI until 1984, he then taught at ELTE's Experimental Psychology Department for over two decades.
His first book, Észjárások, appeared in 1989, launching a successful series of popular science publications.
In 1987, he founded a computer game company, and he continues to consult for various decision-making and marketing firms.
