Jules Archer (1915-2008) was a prolific American author specializing in popular history for general audiences and young adults.
Growing up in New York City during times of radical change, he witnessed firsthand the events that led to New Deal legislation.
He served four years with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific theater during World War II. Archer dedicated much of his later life to explaining American history and country to others, drawing upon the free college education available to academically accomplished New Yorkers of his era.
His extensive bibliography demonstrates his commitment to making history accessible and relevant.
