Patricia Nell Warren was a Ukrainian-American poet and novelist who wrote in both Ukrainian and English.
After marrying Ukrainian émigré writer Yuriy Tarnawsky in 1957, she learned Ukrainian and published acclaimed poetry collections under the pen name Patricia Kylyna.
Following their 1973 divorce, she shifted to English-language writing.
Her first English novel appeared in 1972, but her breakthrough came with The Front Runner (1974), published under her real name.
This gay-themed novel sold over 10 million copies and was translated into multiple languages, establishing her as a significant voice in LGBTQ+ literature.
She died in 2019 at age 82.
