T Kira Māhealani Madden is a diasporic Kanaka 'Ōiwi writer whose debut memoir, Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls (2019), earned widespread acclaim, including a New York Times Editors' Choice designation and finalist recognition for both the National Book Critics Circle John Leonard Prize and the Lambda Literary Award.
Founding Editor of No Tokens, she has received fellowships from prestigious institutions including MacDowell, Yaddo, and Tin House.
Winner of the 2021 Judith A. Markowitz Award, she has served as Distinguished Writer in Residence at University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and currently teaches Creative Writing and Indigenous literatures at Hamilton College.
