Daryl Davis is an accomplished American R&B and blues musician who has performed with legends including Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, and Ray Charles.
Born to diplomat parents, he spent much of his childhood abroad before experiencing racism firsthand upon returning to the United States.
This sparked his lifelong quest to understand racial hatred.
As both musician and activist, Davis uniquely approached combating racism by personally engaging with Ku Klux Klan members, conducting interviews and building relationships.
His unconventional method of seeking common ground and showing respect has reportedly convinced numerous Klansmen to leave the organization, with Davis collecting their robes as symbols of transformation.
