David Cay Johnston (born December 24, 1948) is an acclaimed American investigative journalist and author specializing in economics and taxation.
He won the prestigious 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Beat Reporting.
Johnston has had an extensive academic career, serving as a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer at Syracuse University College of Law and the Whitman School of Management from 2009 to 2016, where he taught tax, property, and regulatory law.
He has contributed journalism to numerous outlets, including Reuters and Al Jazeera, and serves as board president of Investigative Reporters and Editors.
