Born in 1947 in Denbigh, Wales, Janey King, née Morris studied English at Oxford before pursuing careers in journalism and publishing.
Writing under the pen name Rosie Thomas since 1982, she has produced fourteen best-selling novels exploring themes of love and loss, earning the Romantic Novel of the Year Award twice — in 1985 for Sunrise and in 2007 for Iris and Ruby.
Beyond writing, she is an accomplished adventurer, having climbed in the Alps and Himalayas, competed in the Peking to Paris car rally, visited Antarctica, and travelled the Asian Silk Road.
She currently resides in London.
