Makoto Fujimura
Makoto Fujimura is a globally recognized artist, writer, and speaker celebrated as a cultural shaper.
Appointed by the President to the National Council on the Arts (2003–2009), he advocated internationally for the arts.
He received the American Academy of Religion's 2014 Religion and the Arts Award.
His work has been exhibited worldwide, including in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Vienna.
He founded the International Arts Movement in 1992 and later established the Fujimura Institute.
He has lectured at prestigious institutions including Yale and Princeton and holds four honorary Doctor of Arts degrees.
