Marc David Baer is a Professor of International History at the London School of Economics, having previously taught at Tulane University and UC Irvine.
He earned his BA from Northwestern University and PhD from the University of Chicago.
His research examines the connected histories of Christians, Jews, and Muslims in European and Middle Eastern contexts from early modern to modern periods.
His acclaimed books include Honored by the Glory of Islam (2008), which won the Albert Hourani Prize, and The Dönme (2010), a finalist for National Jewish Book Awards.
Both works explore conversion, conquest, and religious communities in Ottoman history.
