Randall Herbert Balmer is a distinguished historian of American religion and an ordained Episcopal priest.
Holding a Ph.D. from Princeton University (1985), he currently occupies the John Phillips Chair in Religion at Dartmouth College.
His academic career spans numerous prestigious institutions, including Columbia, Yale, Princeton, Emory, and Northwestern universities, as well as Union Theological Seminary.
A prolific scholar and public intellectual, Balmer's reach extends beyond academia — he was nominated for an Emmy Award for the PBS documentary Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory, adapted from his own book of the same title.
