무라타 사야카
Sayaka Murata is a rising star in contemporary Japanese literature.
Born in 1979, she continues to work part-time in a convenience store, which inspired her award-winning novel Convenience Store Woman.
Murata's writing career began in 2003 with her debut work, Junyu, which won the Gunzo Prize for new writers.
She has since received several prestigious literary awards, including the Akutagawa Award in 2016 for Convenience Store Woman.
Murata's work often explores themes of societal norms, gender roles, and individuality in modern Japan.
Two of her short stories have been translated into English, showcasing her growing international recognition.
