Laura Purcell is a British author and former bookseller who resides in Colchester with her husband and pet guinea pigs.
Her debut novel for Raven Books, The Silent Companions, won the WHSmith Thumping Good Read Award in 2018 and was featured in both the Zoe Ball and Radio 2 Book Clubs.
She has established herself as a gothic fiction specialist, writing additional novels including The Corset (published as The Poison Thread in the USA), Bone China, and The Shape of Darkness.
Beyond gothic fiction, Purcell has also authored historical fiction about the Hanoverian monarchs through Myrmidon, including Queen of Bedlam and Mistress of the Court.
