Shaul Magid holds the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Chair in Jewish Studies at Indiana University, where he serves as Professor of Jewish Studies and Religious Studies and Director of Graduate Studies for the Borns Jewish Studies Program.
His teaching encompasses Kabbala, Hasidism, religious fundamentalism, Israel/Palestine, and American Jewish thought.
He has authored numerous award-winning books including works on Hasidism and American Judaism, notably receiving the 2008 American Academy of Religion Award.
Magid regularly contributes to Tikkun Magazine, Zeek Magazine, Open Zion, and Religion Dispatches, and edits the "Post-Rabbinic Judaisms" series for Academic Studies Press.
