Susan Choi was born in South Bend, Indiana and raised in Houston, Texas.
She studied literature at Yale and writing at Cornell, working as a fact-checker for The New Yorker.
Her 2019 novel Trust Exercise won the National Book Award for Fiction and became a bestseller.
Her debut The Foreign Student won the Asian-American Literary Award, while American Woman was a 2004 Pulitzer Prize finalist.
She co-edited Wonderful Town: New York Stories from The New Yorker with David Remnick.
A recipient of NEA and Guggenheim fellowships, she lives in Brooklyn with her husband, food critic Pete Wells, and their sons.
