Masaru Emoto je bil japonski avtor in podjetnik, znan po svojih kontroverznih raziskavah na področju kristalov vode.
Rojen je bil leta 1943 v Jokohami, kjer je diplomiral na Jokohamski mestni univerzi s poudarkom na mednarodnih odnosih.
Emoto je trdil, da lahko človeška zavest vpliva na molekularno strukturo vode, o čemer je objavil več knjig, med njimi tudi "Skrita sporočila v vodi".
Njegovo delo je postalo priljubljeno predvsem zaradi dokumentarnega filma "Kaj za vraga sploh vemo!?".
Kljub kritikam znanstvene skupnosti, ki so izpostavljale pomanjkanje eksperimentalnih kontrol in strokovnega pregleda, so Emotove ideje našle odmev pri številnih pripadnikih nove dobe in alternativne medicine.
Svoje teorije je nadaljeval predstavljati na predavanjih in delavnicah vse do svoje smrti leta 2014.
