Janet Skeslien Charles is the author of Miss Morgan's Book Brigade (published as The Librarians of Rue de Picardie in the UK) and The Paris Library.
She discovered Jessie Carson while researching her first novel and became fascinated by this librarian who traveled alone to France during World War I, turned ambulances into bookmobiles, and trained France's first female librarians before mysteriously disappearing.
Charles's research took her to The Morgan Library and Museum, the New York Public Library, and the Franco-American Museum in France.
Her novels celebrate strong women, the power of books, and feature librarians as heroines who believe in books as bridges connecting people.
