Daniel Mason
Daniel Mason is a physician and acclaimed author whose works have been translated into 28 languages.
His novels include The Piano Tuner (2002), A Far Country (2007), The Winter Soldier (2018), A Registry of My Passage Upon the Earth (2020)—a Pulitzer Prize finalist—and North Woods (2023).
Mason has received numerous honors including a Guggenheim Fellowship, Joyce Carol Oates Prize, California Book Award, and National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
His short stories have earned a Pushcart Prize, National Magazine Award, and O. Henry Prize.
As an assistant professor at Stanford University's Department of Psychiatry, his research explores mental illness and literature's influence on medical practice.
