Safiya Umoja Noble
Safiya Umoja Noble is a scholar and academic whose work sits at the intersection of digital media, race, gender, and technology.
She holds a PhD and MS in Library & Information Science from the University of Illinois and a BA in Sociology from California State University, Fresno.
She has held faculty positions at UCLA and USC's Annenberg School of Communication, with appointments spanning African American Studies, Gender Studies, and Education.
Noble co-founded the Information Ethics & Equity Institute and is a partner at Stratelligence.
Her research focuses on search engine ethics, algorithmic bias, technological redlining, and the sociocultural implications of information systems.
