Sang Young Park was born in 1988 in Daegu, South Korea, and studied French at Sungkyunkwan University.
Before becoming a novelist, he worked as a magazine editor, copywriter, and consultant.
His short story collection, The Tears of an Unknown Artist, or Zaytun Pasta, became a bestseller, with the title story gaining significant attention on Words Without Borders.
Love in the Big City, translated by Anton Hur, was longlisted for the Booker International Prize in 2022.
The novel draws on his personal experiences and those of people around him, exploring queer life in Seoul.
He currently lives in Seoul.
