Theodore Fontaine is an Ojibwe author and residential school survivor from Manitoba, Canada.
He attended Fort Alexander Indian Residential School in the 1950s and 60s.
Despite the trauma he endured, Fontaine went on to have a successful career in civil engineering and Indigenous affairs.
He held various leadership positions, including chief of his band and executive director of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
Fontaine became an advocate for residential school survivors and wrote Broken Circle as part of his healing journey.
His memoir aims to educate others about the impacts of the residential school system and promote understanding and reconciliation.
