Holly Goldberg Sloan was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and had a widely traveled childhood spanning California, the Netherlands, Istanbul, Washington DC, and Oregon.
Before becoming a novelist, she built a successful career in film, writing the screenplay for Angels in the Outfield and directing The Big Green, among other family films.
She made her literary debut with I'll Be There, followed by the acclaimed Counting by 7s, named Amazon's best middle-grade novel of the year.
She also authored Just Call My Name, Appleblossom the Possum (illustrated by her husband Gary Rosen), and additional novels.
She lives in Santa Monica, California.
