رابرت اسکیدلسکی استاد بازنشسته‌ی اقتصاد سیاسی در دانشگاه وارویک و زندگی‌نامه‌نویس برجسته‌ی جان مینارد کینز است.
او که در سال ۱۹۳۹ در منچوری به دنیا آمد، در دانشگاه آکسفورد تاریخ خواند و در مؤسسات مختلفی به تدریس پرداخته است.
زندگی‌نامه‌ی سه‌جلدی اسکیدلسکی درباره‌ی کینز جوایز متعددی دریافت کرده است.
او نویسنده‌ی چندین کتاب در زمینه‌ی اقتصاد و تاریخ است و در حال حاضر ستون ماهانه‌ای برای پروژه‌ی سندیکا می‌نویسد.
اسکیدلسکی از سال ۱۹۹۱ به عنوان هم‌نشین مادام‌العمر و از سال ۱۹۹۴ به عنوان عضو آکادمی بریتانیا شناخته می‌شود.
او همچنین در هیئت‌های مدیره‌ی شرکت‌ها و کمیته‌های مشاوره‌ای خدمت کرده و به گفتمان اقتصادی و سیاسی کمک کرده است.
