Alice Mary Felicity Winn is an Irish-American novelist and screenwriter born in France to Irish and American parents.
She was educated at Marlborough College in England and graduated from St Peter's College, Oxford, with a degree in English literature.
Despite having dyslexia and not learning to read until age nine, Winn pursued writing, completing three unpublished novels before In Memoriam.
She began writing the novel in 2019 after discovering digitized student newspapers from Marlborough College published during WWI. The protagonists were inspired by poets Robert Graves and Siegfried Sassoon.
Winn won the 2023 Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize for this work.
