An ill-fated union. At 18, pressured by societal norms and family expectations, the author married her first cousin, a man 16 years her senior, despite her reservations. It took me 43 years to finally realise that men can lie with conviction even when caught red-handed.

The truth revealed. A shocking discovery of emails on her husband's phone exposed the full extent of his deceit, including alleged infidelity, collaboration with her first husband to malign her, and a calculated plan for divorce. The illusion of a loving marriage shattered instantly.

Pain and disillusionment. The betrayal caused profound emotional and physical pain, leaving her feeling violated and foolish for having been deceived. She grappled with the realization that the man she had loved and supported was capable of such cold calculation and cruelty.
